The club offers a warm and inclusive environment for players of all ages and skill levels, making it an ideal place for both beginners looking to learn the game and experienced players wanting to participate in competitive matches.
Our club is situated within the scenic Mayfield Park on the outskirts of Southampton, which provides a beautiful backdrop for bowlers to enjoy their games.
Our past partnership with the Southampton City Council has been instrumental in fostering a welcoming environment for both seasoned bowlers, newcomers and visiting club teams.
For over six decades, our collaboration with the city council has enabled us to provide accessible sporting opportunities to the public. A key aspect of this partnership is our commitment to making two of our top-quality rinks available for the general public to use.
The public rinks are a great way to introduce the sport to newcomers, and many people have developed a passion for bowls through this accessible format. Please see our public bowling page for more information on what we can offer.
For members, the remaining rinks offer an excellent venue for practice sessions (Rollups), friendly matches, and formal club competitions. Mayfield Park Bowling Club is committed to fostering a sense of community, both within its membership and in its interactions with the public.
We regularly organizes social events, fun days, internal tournaments, and inter-club competitions and friendly matches, encouraging camaraderie and providing plenty of opportunities for members to engage with one another and improve their skills. As a club with a long history, Mayfield Park Bowling Club proudly upholds the traditions of the sport while also embracing modern approaches to ensure a welcoming atmosphere.
The club has a dedicated team of volunteers who help maintain the quality of the facilities and organize events, ensuring the continued success of the club.

Whether you are an experienced bowler or someone simply looking to try out a new hobby, the club offers a friendly environment with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the game of lawn bowls. Lawn bowling is an enjoyable and inclusive sport that offers something for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or physical ability.
One of the most appealing aspects of the game is that men and women compete on an equal footing. Unlike many sports where physical strength plays a significant role, lawn bowling emphasizes skill, precision, and strategy, allowing players to compete purely on merit. This creates a truly level playing field where technique and concentration are more important than speed or power. Lawn Bowls promotes an active and healthy lifestyle of all ages and is fun to do as well.
Our bowling season is open from mid April to mid September, Monday – Friday 10:30 – 16:30 Weekend 10:30 – 16:00.
We always welcome new members to the club whether you are a beginner or an experienced player. Many of our public bowlers have joined us as full members and remember you are never to young or old to take up lawn bowls with Mayfield Park Bowling Club. Click here for further details.
We also offer associate and social membership too.
During the winter months we run an indoor short mat bowling programme at the nearby Chamberlayne Leisure Centre, on a Wednesday afternoon. You’re welcome to join us for a fun afternoon and to keep your hand in while we await the summer season. Contact us for details.
